Thu 24 Dec · K507 · Xi'an East 23:06 → Chongqing North 08:28 next day. Every date on sale so far has sold out, so expect these berths to go quickly. Tickets for 24 December go on sale on Thursday 10 December 2026. That is 14 days before departure: 12306's "15-day" sale window counts the travel day.

- Now, well before 10 Dec: set up a 12306 account and add all five passengers with their passport details. Passport verification for foreign travellers can take a day or more.
- Find the exact release time: in the 12306 app, go to 我的 → 起售时间, enter Xi'an East (西安东) and 10 Dec, then set a sale reminder (起售提醒). Release times differ by station.
- On 10 Dec: be logged in a few minutes early. Choose K507 and book all five in one order. A soft-sleeper compartment has 4 berths, so the fifth berth will be nearby; a 6-berth hard-sleeper bay can hold all five together. Pay immediately.
- If it sells out: join the 12306 waitlist (候补购票) for K507 at once, if your account offers it. Keep the same-day high-speed train or evening flight as the fallback.
- Agent pre-orders (Trip.com, Rail.Ninja) try to buy when sales open, but they are not tickets and cannot get seats that have already sold out.

The station opened in June 2026 in Baqiao district, east of the Chan River, and is served by Metro Line 5. Allow 30–45 min by taxi from the walled centre and arrive about an hour early for security and ticket checks.
- Berths: soft-sleeper compartments have 4 berths, so five people need one full compartment plus one berth nearby. Hard-sleeper bays have 6 open berths and can keep all five together. Tickets go on sale on Thu 10 Dec and current dates are selling out: follow the booking steps.

Sung family heritage trail
Song (宋, written Sung in older spellings) dynasty sites along the route: Northern Song 960–1127, Southern Song 1127–1279.
The Song was named after the ancient State of Song, the same name as the family surname 宋. Its emperors were surnamed Zhao, so the dynasty and the family share a name rather than a lineage. The route happens to follow the dynasty's story: from its Southern Song capital at Hangzhou to its last stand in the Pearl River estuary, where the final boy emperor sheltered at what is now Sung Wong Toi in Kowloon and died in 1279.
- Hangzhou: the Southern Song capital. Su Causeway and Yue Fei Temple fit the planned West Lake day; Deshou Palace ruins and the Imperial Street suit a second Song day. Worth considering: stay overnight on 17 Dec and combine this with the Maling Tianguan trip.
- Suzhou: Pingjiang Road follows the city map carved in stone in 1229; that map stele, Canglang Pavilion (1044) and the Twin Pagodas (982) are all within the old city.
- Shanghai: Longhua Pagoda (977) and Songjiang Square Pagoda; Song ceramics at the Shanghai Museum.
- Chongqing: the city was named in 1189 under the Song. The Dazu carvings (Baodingshan, 1174–1252) or the Diaoyu Fortress, which held off the Mongols for 36 years, suit 28 Dec.
- Xi'an: the Forest of Steles Museum, founded 1087, is just inside the South Gate.
- Beijing: Song painting and porcelain at the Palace Museum and the National Museum.
- Guangzhou: the Flower Pagoda (1097), named by the poet Su Dongpo, and the Song layers of the Beijing Road ancient road.
- Shenzhen: the memorial tomb of the last Song emperor at Chiwan, near the Shekou ferry for Macau.
